Dogs Needing Homes in Gate City, Virginia

Stray dogs without identication are kept for 5 days before being put up for adoption. Dogs with identication are kept for 10 days before being put up for adoption. SCAS charge a Return to Owner Fee: $13 (cash only) the first day, then $3.00 each day afterwards.

We would like a dog to go to a new home or rescue as soon as possible after its "available" date.

• Adoption fee for a dog is $30 (cash only), and we require that all dogs adopted from us are spayed/neutered, and vaccinated within 30 days of adoption (or once animal is of age).
• Adoption of dogs is open to residents of Scott, Lee, Wise, Russell, Washington County areas of Virginia
• Adopters must sign a sterilization agreement to have the adopted pet spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption.
• Adopters must return the proof of sterilization paperwork within seven (7) days of dog being spayed or neutered.
• State law requires that all dogs and cats be vaccinated for rabies.
• Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to anyone including out of state residents.
